OBJECTIVE:
Create an interactive experience for the aerosol industry’s biggest annual tradeshow, the ADF/PCD Expo in NYC, that highlights Aerofil’s facility, industry-leading production lines, and unique technical processes that differentiate them from their competitors. The experience should ultimately drive more on-site visits and tours of Aerofil’s state-of-the-art aerosol and liquid packaging facility in Sullivan, MO, and lead to new sales and partnership opportunities. One of the biggest challenges is to showcase a production line that’s not yet built, Aerosol Line #8, which will become one of the most advanced aerosol lines in the world when completed (Q1 2020). The interactive experience should also work to establish Aerofil as the most progressive and forward-thinking vendor in the aerosol industry.
SOLUTION:
ShowMeVirtual was tasked with creating the entire end-to-end ADF/PCD 2019 tradeshow experience for Aerofil, including booth design, a physical 3D-printed diorama, a multi-user augmented reality application (on custom-branded hardware), as well as various video content for the both the booth display and the AR application. Using thousands of aerial and handheld pictures, we reconstructed Aerofil’s facility exterior as a full-color, photorealistic 3D model, then remodeled the mesh by hand to create a large-scale, 3D-printable building exterior. The diorama (printed at 4’ x 2.5’) of Aerofil’s facility serves as a real-world, 1:1 anchor for our bespoke interactive augmented reality experience. The Aerofil AR application, presented by one of the six iPad Pro devices that lined the perimeter of the diorama, allowed expo attendees to “peek inside” of the building to explore entire production lines, processes, equipment, and more through both video and interactive 3D animations, with the option to explore the application independently or in a group session guided by an Aerofil rep.
