CASE STUDY
Aerofil’s massive 400,000 square foot state-of-the-art facility in Sullivan, MO specializes in aerosol and liquid filling, manufacturing & supply chain logistics, & custom packaging for consumer & commercial clients. Chances are that if a product can be sprayed—from an industrial solvent to hairspray–it can be produced or packaged at Aerofil’s plant.
Without prior marketing, Aerofil executives wanted make a splash at the NYC ADF/PCD Expo, one of the aerosol & packaging industry's biggest annual tradeshows. They wanted an activation that would showcase Aerofil as the most innovative company in the industry & highlight an upcoming facility expansion, including a production line that wasn't physically built yet, Aerosol Line #8, which would become one of the most advanced aerosol lines in the world when completed. Executives wanted to introduce attendees to Aerofil as a company, but also foster Aerofil representatives in meeting & engaging new prospects to create connections that might lead to future sales, & drive on-site visits (high-converting).
ShowMeVirtual was tasked with creating the entire end-to-end solution for the ADF/PCD tradeshow, including a physical 3D-printed architectural diorama, a multi-user augmented reality application (with custom-branded hardware), booth design, & video content. Using thousands of aerial and handheld pictures, we reconstructed Aerofil’s facility exterior as a full-color, photorealistic 3D model, then remodeled the mesh by hand to create a large-scale, 3D-printable building exterior. The diorama (printed at 4’ x 2.5’) of Aerofil’s facility serves as a real-world, 1:1 anchor for our bespoke interactive augmented reality experience. The Aerofil AR application, presented by one of the six iPad Pro devices that lined the perimeter of the diorama, allowed expo attendees to “peek inside” of the building to explore entire production lines, processes, equipment, and more through both video and interactive 3D animations, with the option to explore the application independently or in a group session guided by an Aerofil rep.
Aerofil representatives could also take a photo of any attendee's company logo or product, and instantly showcase it on customized aerosol cans moving throughout the entire experience. In addition to production, ShowMeVirtual conducted on-site training with Aerofil sales representatives prior to the conference to enable them become experts at using (& talking about) the AR experience.
"It's a challenge to get other projects up to the level that ShowMeVirtual established with the Aerofil Augmented Reality experience & Line 8 Virtual Tour.”
