OBJECTIVE:
Educate attendees at the largest HVAC expo in the world (70,000+ attendees) on the features, benefits, and competitive advantages of the client’s cutting-edge industrial product. With much of the advanced engineering contained in the inner workings of the product, the augmented reality experience should let participants “see inside” the product, getting a better understanding of the engineering breakthroughs that make it a best-in-class product.
SOLUTION:
ShowMeVirtual created and deployed an interactive AR experience that enabled expo attendees to digitally explore the client’s best-in-class product and internal components from every angle and at a 1:1-scale, designed specifically for a bustling tradeshow environment. We started off by converting a massively detailed CAD model of the product into optimized, application-ready 3D model components, and then textured the product to be an exact replica of its real-world self. Next, we created animations and interactions around the product’s 12 most important features and benefits, and structured them into a brief but cohesive experience, perfect for a fast-paced tradeshow environment. To showcase the product’s unique selling points in the AR experience, we utilized both text and voiceover accompanied with a number of visualizations including liquid flows, internal maintenance procedures, mobile app connectivity and more. Our application gave attendees a frictionless, educational experience only possible with augmented reality, letting them not only see inside of the product, but also grasp other technical concepts that could only be conveyed through rich 3D animations.
ShowMeVirtual also trained brand ambassadors and company sales reps in using the application, who were on-site to help guide users through the experience at the expo. Through the use of the Microsoft Hololens AR headset, it was easy for sales reps to maintain eye contact with participants during the entire experience, and field attendee’s questions and objections as they arose. Though it was originally slated for 8x Hololens units on-site, the client was so pleased by the ease of use and technical presentation of our application, they chose to allocate the other 4x Hololens units on-site to our application (even though they were designated for another agency’s application [not built by ShowMeVirtual]), resulting in a successful activation that ran at capacity throughout the duration of the event.
